If you fancy cooking for yourselves instead, you’ll have to be smart about it – there are no spots on the island to buy food or drink and Ocado is only able to deliver if you pick a delivery slot within the four-hour low tide window. To really amp up the bougieness, you can hire a private chef at an additional cost to host a dinner party for you and your fellow guests. Plus, you have a heated outdoor swimming pool open from April to October and an entire secluded island to run amuck on. There’s also a luxurious library complete with leather sofas, a wood burning stove and triple French doors leading out onto a sundeck and terrace with gorgeous views across the sea. The home has nine bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a separate dining room and can sleep up to 16 guests. To be fair, you do get a lot of bang for your buck. The island sits on an estuary of the River Blackwater and can be reached from London in an hour. One night at Captain’s House on Osea Island, Essex can cost you as much as £4,300. How much would you pay to escape the city and go somewhere off the beaten track? A couple hundred maybe? £500 at a push? If money is no object (yay for you), you could consider an island house that has just been revealed as the UK's most expensive seaside Airbnb.
